Widely known in the global underground for his bawdy productions and exuberant DJ sets, Deeon’s career dates back to 1994 when he released his debut Funk City EP on Windy City label Dance Mania. Deeon went on to release more than 30 releases for the label during a five-year stretch until it shuttered in 1999.
However, Deeon has suffered a series of health setbacks over the years, including quadruple bypass heart surgery and the amputation of his leg. In 2018, he suffered a mini-stroke and has battled other health conditions over the past two years.
As he’s unable to tour due to COVID-19, Deeon is asking fans to financially help him weather the storm. In return, donors can choose from a selection of offerings, including tracks, merchandise and even a private DJ gig.
“I’m not one to ask for help – it doesn’t sit comfortably with me – and I believe you should never get something for nothing so here I am offering to you what I can.”
