Here’s some sad news we learned about over the weekend. New York City electro-house/indie dance DJ/promoter DJ Jess Marquis (real name: Jesse Immler), died last week. Known for throwing diverse events at Motherfucker, MisShapes, Rated X all over Manhattan, his parties received nods three times from The L Magazine and Citysearch.com as well as kudos from The Village Voice and Paper Magazine.
In addition to playing in the bands We Are Americana and Smiths cover outfit The Salford Lads, Jess, who always gave spirited performances, also photographed New York City nightlife.
A resident at Webster Hall, he shared bills with Dannic, Lil Jon, Borgeous, Carnage, Tiësto, Steve Aoki, dBerrie, TJR, Alvaro, Chris Lake, and countless other world-class jocks.
On Friday night a vigil was held at The Studio at Webster Hall, where friends remembered one of the Big Apple’s rising stars who passed far too young.
