Barcelona-based Mar-T is gearing up for another big season in Ibiza. A resident at Amnesia since 1999 and producer of tracks for esteemed labels including Hot Creations, Cocoon recordings and Get Physical, his WOW! Recordings is currently celebrating ten years of releasing great dance music by the likes of Valentino Kanyazi, Marco Nastic, Paco Osuna and Toni Varga.
The Ibiza legend will be manning the decks at Pacha Ibiza on May 6, Amnesia’s opening party on May 28 and Hyte’s opening party at Amnesia on June 29. What will he play? We asked the man himself to fill us in on five tunes that are currently rocking his world.
Yousef – “Reverence” (Under No Illusion)
What makes this track so special is its groove which feels like it’s broken in some way. The track features a quirky vocal and an amazing synth which comes out of nowhere and blows up the dance floor! I’ve tested the track everywhere and it just works.
Latmun – “Dance and Bop” (Wow! Recordings)
The first time I heard this track when it was sent to my label as a demo I knew it was gonna be a bomb. The rhythm, the synths and the aggressive kick with the claps make everybody dance. The track builds until it explodes. What can I say? It works for me! I made a remix with Luca Donzelli, and now it’s a problem for me to decide which version to play!
Freeform Five – “Perspex Sex” (Ewan’s HI-NRG Remix) (Classic Music Company)
This is a classic track that was released on Classic Music Company, one of the best labels ever. This track reminds me of many crazy Monday nights dancing with Sven Väth at the decks. If you hear me playing this track, it means I’m having a great time and I want to add some nostalgia to the set. It’s just a perfect track.
Neverdogs – “No Excuse” (wAFF Remix) (Celesta Recordings)
The more I play it, the more I like this track! The bass is so sexy and the breakdown is amazing! For me WaFF is one of the top producers right now. I don’t like all of his tracks but this incredible remix simply blows my head. A perfect track to play in the middle of the set or after a harder sounding track.
Jey Kurmis, Nukov & Yelmet – “Refresh” (Original Mix) (Moon Harbour)
I like most of the releases from Moon Harbour. There’s some really serious stuff being released, and in this case, a track where Jey Kurmis is involved. Jey is another great producer with a really good imagination. He’s always coming out with crazy vocals which break my neck dancing.
