Straight outta Denmark, London-based DJ/producer Kid Massive has been making a name for himself on the global club scene through a steady procession of chart-topping big-room productions and remixes. With his work championed by the likes of David Guetta, Nicky Romero and Hardwell, the talented Dane continues to refine and evolve his Massive attack on the world’s dance floors. He recently switched things up by releasing EDM Sessions, a producer sample pack he says is “a great reflection of what you would hear in my DJ sets, lots of hooks, big drops and driving beats.” Always in the studio cooking up bangers and listening for fresh tunes, we asked the Kid to share his five favorite artists of the moment on SoundCloud.
Kid Massive’s EDM Sessions is out now on Loopmasters. Catch him at Seaside Sounds Festival in Darwin, Australia on May 10.
1. Imogen Heap
I have been a massive fan of hers for years, ever since the Frou Frou project. This amazingly talented singer-songwriter is also one of the most forward-thinking producers out there right now. She recently helped develop Mi.Mu, a glove that acts as a MIDI controller rather than having to use the mouse and keyboard when creating music. The one song that stands out for me is her collab with deadmau5, “Telemiscommunications,” which showcases her fantastic songwriting skills as well as her mastery of thinking outside the box.
2. Golf Clap
These guys from Detroit have been keeping my house full of deep house mixes for the past year or so. They have impeccable music taste and each mix is something completely different but with that Golf Clap vibe. Their masterpiece would have to be the 6 hour 45 min long mega mix that’s perfect for any long haul flight or all-night dinner party.
Swedish reggae artist who chats, toasts and sings her way through an amazing selection of songs on the Look Like You Love It EP produced by the likes of Skrillex, Diplo and Dr. Luke. Each tune stands out on its own, but together they make for an amazing calling card for this young upcoming artist. My fave on this EP is the killer track “Revolusion” — her flow and the production are spot on and the energy is through the roof!
4. Mat Zo
Mat Zo is proving himself to be one of those leftfield artists that you never quite know what he is going to put out next. The same can be said for his DJ sets, mixing everything from big room EDM, disco, funk, drum ‘n’ bass, trance and trap. His mixes always get a blasting before I head out to the club or a night out — they’re perfect for setting the mood and getting the party started just right.
5. Future Classic
Australian Label Future Classics is responsible for quality releases by artists such as Flight Facilities, Bodhi, Flume and Touch Sensitive. Their eclectic mixture of nu disco, indie and other interesting genres make them one of my go-to labels when I need something different. One of their standout releases is Flume and Chet Faker’s Lockjaw EP which spawned the smash single “Drop The Game.”
