Trance journeyman Max Graham continues to refine his sound as a DJ/producer and blaze new musical trails on his own terms. The Canadian, who was born in London and is based in Amsterdam, released his majestic Cycles 5 compilation in January, toured all over the place to support it and is now getting ready for a big summer by issuing his latest and greatest track called “Purple” on his Rebrand Records. Graham’s popular Cycles Radio show topped 150 shows earlier in the year, and he shows no signs of slowing down. With his finger on the pulse of all things trance, progressive, tech-house and beyond, we asked Graham to share his five favorite tracks of the moment on SoundCloud.
Max Graham’s “Purple” is released on May 12. Graham plays Case Study at Riff Lounge in Chicago on May 29, Fez Ballroom in Portland on May 31 and FSOE vs Subculture at Westerunie in Amsterdam on June 7. Continue Reading →
Trends come and go, but Paris-based DJ/producer Phil Weeks has remained true to the house that Jack built. Over the past decade he’s refined his deep, soulful productions through choice releases for 2020Vision, Music For Freaks, Brique Rouge, Detour, Adult Only and his own Robsoul label. Next month Weeks will drop “Searching4Love,” a sultry collaboration with fellow Parisian Ladybird, on his Robsoul label. Straight outta Denmark, London-based DJ/producer Kid Massive has been making a name for himself on the global club scene through a steady procession of chart-topping big-room productions and remixes. With his work championed by the likes of David Guetta, Nicky Romero and Hardwell, the talented Dane continues to refine and evolve his Massive attack on the world’s dance floors. He recently switched things up by releasing EDM Sessions, a producer sample pack he says is “a great reflection of what you would hear in my DJ sets, lots of hooks, big drops and driving beats.” Always in the studio cooking up bangers and listening for fresh tunes, we asked the Kid to share his five favorite artists of the moment on SoundCloud.
British DJ/producer/musician Alex Metric has certainly come into his own in the past year. Having released a steady stream of EPs since 2007 and choice remixes for Depeche Mode, La Roux, N.E.R.D, Phoenix, Ellie Goulding and Bloc Party, Metric just dropped his Hope EP on OWSLA/Big Beat. Working with Los Angeles-based collaborator Oliver, the pair lay down some funky and dirty house grooves on the title track and “Galaxy” with Metric ripping it up on his own on the synthy bass heavy rave-up “Spiritism.” Before Metric’s gig at Bassline Festival 2014 in Helsinki on April 25, we caught up with the man of the moment and asked him to share his five favorite artists of the moment on SoundCloud. Keep hope alive!
