Fabric Turning Sweet 16 in October

FABRIC16birthday

In an age of gentrification where anti-club sentiments run deep among many, Fabric London, arguably one of the world’s finest nightspots, is getting ready to celebrate its 16th birthday with a massive 31-hour marathon blowout. A club that has served as the home for some of the finest DJs in the world as well as a breeding ground for a generation of newcomers since its inception, their much deserved victory lap will commence over a weekend of nonstop festivities taking place October 16-18.

Ricardo Villalobos, Ben Sims, Dan Ghenacia, DJ Qu, Dyed Soundorom, Felix Dickinson, Jamie Jones, Marcel Dettmann, Matrixxman, Paranoid London (Live), Prosumer, Shonky, Steffi and Virginia are some of the talent who will join residents Craig Richards and Terry Francis for the shindig.

Joris Voorn Dropping 65-Track ‘Fabric 83’

Joris-Voorn_FABRIC83

Currently riding high with his Green label collaboration with Edwin Oosterwal and his Rejected imprint, esteemed Dutch DJ/producer Joris Voorn is the latest big-name jock to bring his mixing skills to London club Fabric’s ongoing DJ mix series. Set for release on August 21, 2015, Fabric 83 is composed of a whopping 65 (!) tracks (see full track list below), ranging from ambient to deep techno. For the mix Joorn used Ableton to create a seamless journey featuring a variety of artists including Wolfgang Voigt, Plastikman, Speedy J, John Tejada and Green artists Roland Klinkenberg and Anton Pieete.

Obligatory press release gush from Joris Voorn, whose first gig at Fabric took place in April 2007: “The creative freedom I have when working in Ableton allows me to edit, mix and remix tracks in ways you can’t do with turntables or CD players. Tracks are often used as building blocks in the form of loops and samples in order to create something completely new. Tracks are usually stripped down or minimal sounding to allow for layering and mixing with other tracks. The result is a mix that is more than the sum of its parts.”

Voorn launches Fabric 83 at Fabric on August 22, 2015, on a bill rounded out by Craig Richards, Sebastian Mullaert (live) and Mosca. Continue Reading
