NYC DJ Jon Toubin in Critical Condition After Being Struck by a Cab in Portland Hotel Room
Dec 9th, 2011 | By Darren Ressler | Category: News, US newsA taxi cab plowed into the ground-floor unit of Room 115 at the Jupiter Hotel in Portland yesterday morning, landing on top of NYC DJ New York DJ Jon Toubin who was still in bed. Toubin, who is known for playing a diverse amalgam of soul, R&B and funk, was hospitalized and remains in serious condition.
Toubin was in town to play a Thursday night show at a Southeast Portland club. “He was literally stuck under the front of the car,” a source told Oregon Live. The cab driver, Terry L. Uding, 52, had low blood sugar at the scene, and likely suffered a diabetic medical emergency, according to fire, police and Radio Cab officials. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated and released.
Toubin’s stepbrother, Colin Tolsky of Massachusetts, said he couldn’t believe what happened and is devastated.
“It sounds like a one in a trillion event,” Tolsky said. “It’s just unbelievable.”
