Brothers in rhythm Lenny and Lawrence Burden comprise Octave One, one of the foremost purveyors of true Detroit techno. Ignoring fleeting fads and trends over the past two decades, the Burdens have stayed the course while continually pushing and expanding their musical horizons. In February the globetrotting Motor City act will release Revisited: Here, There, and Beyond, a remix compilation that takes songs previously released on their 430 West label and embellishes them with a 2012 spin. German techno/producer Alexander Kowalski takes on remix duties with grace and style on “I Need Release” — which was originally released in 2008 — and comes up with something that sounds truly special.
