Ronnie Spiteri 5 Tracks of the Moment

Ronnie Spiteri

A purveyor of deep, techy house, Southampton, England’s Ronnie Spiteri has had quite a year. Literally raised on a diet of dance music — his father used to promote parties and illegal raves all over the South Coast of England in the early ’90s — he’s evolved his sound with fantastic results.

Ronnie, who’s released music on Undr The Radr, Toolroom Records, Do No Sleep and runs Kenja Records, made his mobilee debut in September via his Voices in My Head EP. This month his Flashing Lights EP will be released on Steve Lawler’s ViVA Music, with his Knee Deep In Sound EP following in December on Multiply and Shakedown EP out in January on Do Not Sleep. Factor in tons of Radio 1 support and his recent residencies at Do Not Sleep and Switch in Southampton and you’ve got a star on the rise.

Poised to do even bigger things in 2018, we asked him to wax poetic about new tracks currently dominating his DJ sets.

Marco Faraone – Restrictions (Be As One)
“Restrictions” is a bit of an undiscovered gem from a couple of years a go, but works for me every single time. It’s a no-nonsense stripped back techno workout from Marco. He has been on fire recently, too.

Hot Since 82 – Chasing (Circus)
I‘m a huge fan of all of Daley’s releases, and this has a killer groove. He is always on point and consistently delivers every time. Great to see Yus[ef] celebrating 15 years of Circus Recordings, too. Massive achievement for any independent label this day and age.

Re.you – Work It Now (Tiefschwarz Remix) (Cacao)
Tiefschwarz are a name that haven’t been so prominent in recent times, but they are right back on form with this remix. Lots of great musical elements to it and it takes you on a proper journey. Love this.

Regal – From Other Sounds (Radio Slave Remix) (Figure)
This is another slightly older stripped back affair, but with Matt Radio Slave on the remix knobs this just oozes quality from the get-go and it hypnotizes you. Simple, but very effective on the dance floor.

Mongo – Planet Mongo (Alan Fitzpatrick Remix) (High Tide)
All my local South Coast mates are on this one. The Mongo lads are doing great things on a musical tip, as is their events and High Tide record label. My bro Alan Fitzpatrick just takes this to the next level. His signature sound is so recognizable, and he turns in a cracking remix.
