Orbital’s ‘Wonky’ Due In April
Jan 16th, 2012 | By Darren Ressler | Category: Featured PostPioneering British electronic act Orbital — brothers Paul and Phil Hartnoll — will release Wonky in April. The full-length produced by producer Mark “Flood” Ellis (Erasure, U2, Nine Inch Nails, Soulwax) marks Orbital’s first studio album in eight years. After dominating electronic music in the ’90s with breakthrough tracks like “Chime” and “Satan” the Hartnolls called it quits in 2004, later reuniting to play The Big Chill ’09. Recorded in the duo’s Brighton studio, Wonky features Birmingham grime MC Lady Leshurr on the title track and L.A.-based electronic musician Zola Jesus on “New France.” Orbtial will begin a six-date UK tour in April that will culminate in a performance at the Royal Albert Hall. No word yet on additional European or North American dates. Obligatory press gush from Phil Hartnoll: “For me these feel like the most enjoyable Orbital times that we’ve ever had. It’s just getting better and better. It feels like a new beginning.”
