How Was 2011 For You, Jonathan Coulton?
Dec 31st, 2011 | By Darren Ressler | Category: 2011 Recap, RecapHow was 2011 for you?
I had a great year – they’ve all been pretty good lately, but this one was exceptionally productive and satisfying. A lot of good things happened.
Highlights?
Finishing and releasing the album felt fantastic. It’s been a long time since I did a large chunk of creative work that felt so risky and important and real. It also helps that the fans have gotten behind it in such a big way. It’s even more satisfying to know that other people like it as much as I do. Mostly I’m relieved!
Lowlights?
Probably somewhere between Salt Lake City and Los Angeles. Possibly at a gas station. Most likely when I was buying a snack I didn’t really need because I wasn’t really hungry, but I was just bored and tired of driving in a van. Touring is hard, and I did a lot more of it this year than I usually do. I love actually playing the shows, but almost everything in between is a snack I don’t really need.
What’s your New Year’s resolution?
Do something new and scary.
