How was 2009 for you, Alland Byallo?

2009 was incredible. First and foremost, I reconnected with my family this year after a couple years of distance. I turned 30, and since then so many of my dreams have come true. I traveled to Europe a couple of times to play some of the best clubs, I played a couple of gigs in Brazil for the first time, I produced my first album and I moved into a real studio… and it’s the legendary Moulton Studio, to boot! I can be a bit grumpy at times, but looking back I really have nothing to complain about. I’ve learned a lot and have made many new friends and established solid relationships with quality people. It’s been a really great year and I think it was a great setup for 2010.
Highlights?
I’d say one of the highlights was watching the props on the album roll in from people I’ve always looked up to and am inspired by daily. Handing in my first rent payment for the studio was pretty epic as well. I can’t remember the last time I had that big of an internal smile. After years of just doing it at makeshift home studios or in my headphones, it felt so nice to be free.
Lowlights?
Watching a tour of eight DJ gigs turn into two.
What’s your New Year’s resolution?
I have a few: I need to start living a bit healthier, I need to focus on creating original tracks more than remixes, and I need to push Nightlight Music in new and more interesting directions worldwide. I’m planning a few vinyl Nightlight releases for 2010 as well. I’ve also decided to be Mr. Positive. I’m laying off my grudges and judgements.
