How was 2009 for you, John Oates?
Dec 1st, 2009 | By admin | Category: 2009 RecapHow was 2009 for you?
A mixed time of pleasure and pain. Pleasure in the fact that I had the chance to play with some amazing and legendary musicians like The Meters, John Prine, The Neville Brothers, Jerry Douglas, and Sam Bush as well as perform for the one of the last shows at Philadelphia’s Spectrum arena. The pain part comes in when I had major shoulder surgery in April, but the results have been great and now I can enjoy all the good memories and leave the pain behind.
Highlights?
Everything I mentioned above, and the fact that I’m about to start a tour with The Jerry Douglas Band and Maura O’Connell this Christmas season.
Lowlights?
The shoulder surgery. But even my downtime recuperating gave me a chance to reevaluate and re-learn some great old folk and blues songs that I had forgotten.
What’s your New Year’s resolution?
To enjoy the fruits of my long career and never lose perspective on how important my family is to me.
