Comp. Review: ‘Get Physical 7th Anniversary Compilation Mixed by MANDY’ (Get Physical)

Who knew that in the seven years since Get Physical opened shop with the simple mission to create house music for people to dance to again that they would spark a revolution that would forever alter the annals of dance music? Now fully immersed in the post-revolutionary German house music domination the label that started it all takes a moment to pause and collect 24 tracks indicative of the label circa 2009. What’s disappointing is that Get Physical once had so much to say and has now been worn down to novelties like Laurie Anderson and Dave Brubeck reworks. There’s just not enough here musically that either stands out or offers some distinct new twist on the post-minimal house genre. That lack of definition relegates this mix to being merely noteworthy and not very easily distinguished from the legions of other high profile German house music compilations out there these days.
