Comp. Review: Reboot & Sascha Dive / ‘From Frankfurt To Mannheim’ (Cecille)
Nov 25th, 2009 | By admin | Category: Music Reviews
Germany’s tradition for dance music travels beyond the boundaries of Berlin. And like anywhere else in the word, you’ll find small differences in the music depending on where you are in the country.
Cecille Records recruits local Rhein area (Frankfurt and Manheim) DJ/producers Reboot and Sascha Dive to showcase some of the finest music its territory has to offer. The only instruction here for either mix is that the music has either been released by a local artist or by a local label. Reboot’s mix is made for the early part of the night. Miss Fitz “Menternal (Villalobos In The Pipe Remix – Reboot Edit)” and Ilario Alicante “Near Africa (Markus Fix & Robert Dietz Remix)” chug along slowly with the purpose of showcasing the instrumental over the beats. There’s one idea here from start to finish and the feel of the mix tells a story without ever going over the top. Sascha Dive’s mix picks up from the first disc, but there’s not a drastic change in direction. Ricardo Villalobos leads the way once again with “Ibiza 99 (Tub)” and gives way to the depressed “Ghost” by Christian Burkhardt and additional track from the likes of Seth Troxler & Shaun Reeves, Tedd Patterson, and Nick Curly. Consider this compilation a guidebook for what’s going on outside of Berlin.
