Hailing from Denver, CO, Bobby Collins (a.k.a. SFO) is pretty much versed in the discipline of every instrument made.
Playing in many bands over the years while working professionally in the sound design trade, his interest in DJing finally took hold and he eventually decided to dedicate his entire musical output to his bedroom studio. Using turntables, keys, effect units, and a theremin, this breakbeat funk release borders on the downtempo world while retaining a live DJ feel. While the moods are extremely enchanted with soundscapes from outer worlds, the calypso vibes keep you grounded to a Latin groove. There are a few acidic jump-up styled dancehall beats, and the use of samplers accentuates every facet of instrumentation design. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon boat party, the sounds scream relaxation while leaving just enough room to bob your head. Full of energetic melody, clean mixes and forward-moving chord progressions, it’s no wonder Mr. SFO is getting billed alongside the top artists in the downtempo-breaks genre.
