Compilation review: Danny Krivit / ‘718 Sessions’ (Nervous)
Nov 9th, 2009 | By admin | Category: Music Reviews
What can be said about legendary DJ Danny Krivit that hasn’t already been said? For the past 30 years he has been the herald for all things disco and Garage, and with over 200 productions to his credit, it’s an almost surefire bet that just about any soulful house track coming from NYC during that time has had some input from Krivit.
It’s easy enough to encase Krivit in the same dusty time capsule of recent history right next to David Mancuso or Larry Levan but just like contemporaries Francois Kevorkian and Danny Tenaglia, he’s continued to champion new music and that’s what his mix 718 Sessions is all about. Here he weaves in and out of soulful deep vocal house tracks both new and old many with luscious extended instrumental passages to give things an old school flavor. Sure, it’s been done a thousand times before but Krivit still brings the heat to this comp by focusing on quality tracks, which is one of the big reasons that he’s still in the game.
