Nobody knows when the economy is going to recover, but it’s safe to predict that big things are in store for Benny Rodrigues in 2009. This Dutch DJ/producer’s funky, minimal tech-house style is gaining traction at clubs all over the world, and his quality productions are getting loads of attention. Rodrigues just released his rather terrific I Like EP on Israeli DJ/producer Shlomi Aber’s Be As One label. “I Like” is a pumping slice of techno inspired house, and its B-side, “Reel,” which was co-produced with up-and-coming Dutchman Kapuchon (aka Nick van de Wall), shouldn’t be overlooked.
