Inspired by American house music icons like Masters At Work, MAW and Derrick Carter, Stuart Geddes’ sound distills the rawness of minimal techno and the soul of house into a compelling signature that’s continually evolving. In between producing tracks for his Murmur Records and promoting his London based party, Mulletover, Geddes whipped up this awesome Big Shot Guest Mix.

Big Shot: You produce tracks, run your own label and promote your own events: Is it difficult to juggle everything?

Stuart Geddes: It is difficult to manage everything—running Mulletover, making sure everything is booked and organized months in advance, listening to demos for Murmur, then producing my own material is very hard. Sometimes I’m not sure where I find the time; I think I’m superhuman!

After recording for various labels you launched Murmur. How did the reality of running a label match up with the fantasy?

There isn’t much between reality and fantasy for me when running Murmur— i’ts something I enjoy doing, and I always knew it wasn’t going to piece of cake. The constraints of dance music are changing all the time—you’ve just got to keep on top of things. Long term, I want the label to flourish with talent and meaningful music, push boundaries and operate differently. Sure we’re in the early stages, but we have a long term plan.

Which tune are you living for right now?

Liberty City’s “Some Lovin’”

Any plans to come to North America in the near future?

I would love to visit in the not to distant future, maybe next year!

What’s in store for the rest of the 2008?

Lots of studio work for me and nothing else.
