“The shit they did in those days blows me away at times. It’s a different kind of energy, makes you dance in a different way,” says London based DJ/producer Serge Santiágo. He’s talking about Italo disco, a sound introduced to him by former Radio Slave partner and fellow Stompa Phunk resident Matt Edwards, which forever changed his musical mindset. After crafting remixes for Kylie Minogue, Fisherspooner, White Stripes and Tiga with Edwards, Santiago left Radio Slave in 2005 and launched his own label, Arcobaleno (“rainbow” in Italian), and started his highly successful colored vinyl edit series. Earlier this year, he remixed Hercules & Love Affair’s “Blind,” and he continues to spin all over the place. Here’s Mr. Santiágo in action courtesy of this exclusive Big Shot Guest Mix.
